Job Description: Freight Coordinator As a Freight Coordinator, your primary responsibility is to oversee the logistical process of transporting goods, both domestically and internationally. In this position, you will work closely with vendors, carriers, and customers to coordinate pick-up and delivery times, track shipments, and resolve any issues that may arise. Your key tasks include: Coordinating Shipments: You’ll ensure schedules are adhered to and delivery deadlines are met for goods transported by air, sea, or land. Communication: Regularly communicate with carriers, customers, and various departments to resolve shipment issues and provide timely updates on shipment status. Documentation: Generate and process shipment documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Cost Optimization: Arrange transportation services and negotiate rates with carriers to ensure cost-effective shipment options. Tracking and Monitoring: Monitor and track shipment progress, providing real-time updates to internal and external stakeholders. Warehouse Collaboration: Collaborate with warehouse and receiving personnel to ensure efficient loading and unloading of goods. Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels and ensure goods are properly labeled, packaged, and stored for shipment. Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with carriers and customers to foster productive partnerships. Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned or needed to support the company’s transportation operations. Experience and Education Requirements: Typically, a high school diploma or equivalent qualification is required. Some companies prefer candidates with a bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, but it’s not always mandatory. Relevant experience in freight coordination or other logistics roles (shipping, receiving, or inventory management) is a plus. Proficiency in using computer software and tools for tracking shipments, generating reports, and creating invoices is essential.
